Is anyone else an all or nothing kinda person? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s like you either want it all or say f*** it. You know that space where you are going 100 miles a minute with your thoughts & you feel so motivated & the next second your just hitting a wall. Do you feel me? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I freaking hate. Like literally hate that frame. It is so exhausting. Like the up and down of it. [hahaha] you know what it reminds me of? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When my husband repeatedly tries to teach me to drive his standard car. Like I get in theory what I need to do, in practice it’s a totally different ball game! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like I just want to drive fast 😂⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a therapist, we learn in school, that one of the goals is to help move people out of that all or nothing space and more into the “Gray” zone. & again logically it makes complete sense that if we can find & implement that “in between” our days will be more consistent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
More flow [less ebb]. & what I also know to be true about the human brain is that we NATURALLY shift into all or nothing thinking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It helps us create more clarity & logical sense in this world that feels so out of our control! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
AND I recognize it’s not the greatest overall. My issue is the shame that is induced when we try to pretend this paradigm doesn’t exist. So my thoughts & what I try to practice is this. If your someone who is currently going a million miles a minute, good for you. If your someone who is currently feeling less than jazzed, it’s all good! The tides are constantly turning. & while it might feel uncomfortable to ride in the particular part of the wave your in, that’s ok, keep surfing. If we can ride out the feelings of discomfort & not feed into the shame, that right there is the perfect place to start experiencing the Gray zone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To reiterate. Be you. Do you. For you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where your at right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

as a therapist, I specialize in helping women who are struggling with Eating Disorders & Trauma/PTSD.
I spend a lot of time speaking about hunger.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
when I started my career I used to rattle through the symptom check how I was trained.
asking questions like-
“are you hungry?”
“are you eating your meal plan?”
“how’s your symptoms?”
[just to name a few]
These questions are SO important. & yet a big piece of the puzzle was missing for me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
as I move towards the milestone of being a clinician for just shy of a DECADE [like how + when did that happen?!?! lol]
my frame is totally different. I find myself, of course, asking the relevant clinical questions & even more importantly asking questions like...
“What does full mean to you?”
“What does full look like to you?”
& friends I’m not [just] speaking about food here. I want to learn more about how someone experiences the sensations of ful(l)-fillment in 👏 their 👏 life 👏

What’s critical to me is what fulfills you.
You know that hunger & drive you feel when your moving towards your passion?
The hunger that wakes you up at 2am?
The fire that pushes you towards your dreams?

I want to hear about that. Learn about that. Explore that.
That feeling. It’s legit contagious 💗

For me. When I’m sitting with clients. Offering a reiki treatment. Curating my next clothing collection. Putting my hands in dirt. Designing a new planter. Creating a custom order. Growing a new plant baby. Writing. Dreaming. Connecting with my tribe. This does it for me.

✔️ what I will need in the future, I will be equipped with when the time is right⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the past, I stumbled upon this expression. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Low key had feelings. Like nah girl I’m FINE.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Definitely brushed them off 💯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I probably scrolled past super quickly, completely ignoring the feelings it brought up. Who wants to feel that?!
Not me🤷🏻‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The honest truth is that reading that phrase hurt.
It hurt because it felt so out of reach. Like what the flip does that even mean right?! I am looking all over the place ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
& just trying to get through the day in one piece. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I could sit and name all of the phrases like “good friends are hard to find & worth the wait” etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
[cue the eye rolls 🙄]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT that’s not my end goal-naming the woo woo phrases or smoothing over hard feelings for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What I do want to say is this.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your tribe is already around you.
I guarantee it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You just might not see it, at least not yet.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You might be swept up, not ready yet or looking in the wrong place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
OR you could be fucking scared of really being loved for who you are. But girlfriend you gotta put that shit down. [drop that like it’s hot] 🔥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Otherwise you will totally overlook the people who already see themselves on your team. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I get it, your protecting yourself. Rightfully so, we have all been burned. I often ask myself, what is scarier? letting myself be vulnerable & potentially risk some pain or pushing people away that want to show up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the end of the day, I make the choice to show up and push myself. Even when it hurts because it might.
